Personal Development for SMART PEOPLE - book review

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Steve Pavlina’s goal while writing this book was to crystallize and convey to a reader universal laws of consciousness, laws that work for everyone in any situation and in any area of life: health, relationships, career, spiritual growth …. Laws that are timeless and apply to a single person as well as to a group of any size. His book is a final solution. One small book, lots of wisdom, lots of practical solutions and challenges. Concise, elegant, well structured. Each chapter begins with a suitable quote and is subdivided into key components. You can find an interesting self assessment in the first chapter showing that there is a large possibility for growth in any area. If something is not very satisfactory then it is unsatisfactory. Additionally Conscious Assessment and Growth Blitzing are at the end of the part one.

In the book Steve says something like this: “You can’t be sure about any of your personal beliefs you have.” so  maybe I am wrong writing this review :) The only critique I can find is this: Steve said that there is only a small portion of material shared with his blog. I agree that the book is original and has a unique impressive content but at a first glance everything is around the blog. Blog and book seem to blur together, they even consist of the same letters :) After reading you will know his life story if you don’t know already, he wrote a lot about himself and clarified ideas on his own example. This review can be biased because I am a great fan of his blog and currently Steve is my main source of inspiration. I see no better candidate for a mentor.

The book contains huge amount of practical tips and exercises, even in the theoretical part - when you read it is good to immediately apply some of them. This book will set you on the path to conscious living using Truth, Love, Power and their combinations that give final outcome - Intelligent living. I must admit that this model seem workable and it can become a standard. Steve Pavlina’s book can begin a new era in Personal Development or even begin a new branch - Counsciousness Development.

Try It On Everything - EFT movie review

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Recently I saw a great movie called “Try It On Everything”. It is about EFT- Emotional Freedom Technique, for some it may seem a mysterious technique because it works on energy points that were discovered by ancient Chinese but in fact EFT is fairly new. The movie is worth spreading to the public since EFT is quick and simple and it gives astonishing results. I think EFT should be taught in preschool worldwide but it has to “tip” to become so popular.

The movie “Try It On Everything” can be seen as an instructional video to learn EFT, but there is also a story about each of the participants. Ten people were invited for a long four day weekend workshop. They had awfully deep issues and the movie starts with their descriptions. Some of those issues were: years of sickness, chemotherapy, back pain, insomnia, lack of belief to be healthy, unworthiness, reoccurring nightmares, depression, fear of speaking in public, food cravings and overweight, spinal injury, being stuck between the pain caused by smoking and the pain caused by non smoking, phobias, traumas… All of them were supposedly permanent. Participants were told to try a little technique called EFT. It was meant to release stuck energy, sooth energetic disruptions. EFT works simply by bringing a problem to mind and tap on special points. Most of the issues were healed completely after the first or second day. It was staggering to see all participants’ faces at the end, completely relaxed, healed and happier.

I’ve been using EFT for over a year now and I still learned a lot from the movie. I’ve estimated that if I was about to pay a $1000 for knowing or not knowing EFT I would pay it, for me EFT was already worth more.

EFT can be used for healing, boosting confidence, accelerating the Law of Attraction, unleashing your potential. You can use it anywhere even on short breaks. Thomas Edison once said: “If we did all the things we were capable of doing, we could literally astound ourselves.” Some more quotation from the movie:
“Joy doesn’t cause blockages, it is anger, guilt etc.”
“Each of us has potential to be brilliant.”
“We are profoundly powerful people.”
“Accepting yourself doesn’t make you stuck. “
“Life was meant to be enjoyed.”

“Try It On Everything” features famous stars from “The Secret” like Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, Joe Vitale and many other great teachers that are still not known so widely. Jack Canfield said: ”If on a scale from 1 to 10 your life is 3 then why so high? Why isn’t it 2 or 1?” that helps people to focus that there is always something nice already in everybody’s life. The next question is: ”What could move it to level 4 for you?”. Bob Proctor said something like this: “It is time not for a slow incremental growth but for a quantum leap to become the best of who you are. Everybody has that capacity.”

The workshop was lead by 5 practitioners: Helena Johnson, Rick Wilkes, Steve Munn, Nicolas Ortner, and Carol Look. Nicolas Ortner presented a little explanation: Imagine that everyday you get 100 units of power or $100. If something has happened to you in the past that cost $2, you don’t pay it just once, you pay it everyday whenever you replay the emotion. Energy goes where your focus is. If you focus daily on what’s bad that’s where your energy is draining out of your body. Traumas create blocks on energy pathways but Energy is supposed to flow thru you. You are spending your $100 on bad emotions and additionally traumas are blocking new income. EFT brings that power back. Tap and take it back. What can you do with your full energy dose? What would your life look like if your pain was gone? Tapping on energy points excites electrical system in the body. Chinese applied pressure = acupressure or needles = acupuncture on those energy points. Those points are on the head, collar bone, under arm and on hands. It is shown precisely in the movie where and how to tap. While taping repeat the statement “Even thou [your problem here] I deeply and completely accept myself.” If you get emotional just keep tapping. Check the level of intensity after each cycle. From 0 - no feeling to 10 – highest level of distress.

What was surprising to me was that tapping on someone else’s issues can help yourself. We have a lot in common so you can tap on someone else’s issues. If you beat yourself up, or someone else does it then tap and say “Even thou I am a total mess I deeply and profoundly accept myself” and “I am perfectly right to feel this way” acknowledge that, admit it. Freud said that this is therapeutic “The way to heal is to have no secrets”. 70% of our thoughts are negative and limiting our power. When you were a child you downloaded behaviors from your parents and they became your behaviors. We often make decisions based on beliefs we took at a young age. Only two fears are inborn: fear of falling and fear of loud noises, the rest is taken from the environment, mostly from our parents.

After watching that movie twice I must say that it was done professionally and received a lot of care. The movie has a fantastic music background, when I realized it I rewound back and said “wow!”. Compositions on the screen are pleasant, important info is explained in captions. The workshop took place in a quiet location, rooms were furnitured and arranged nicely. It is worth watching multiple times not just to awe but to acquire and implement all the tips that were presented.

Do you want to learn more about that mysterious technique, to learn the remaining part of the secret? Get the movie here: “Try It On Everything” and start using this fascinating tool called EFT.

Joe Williams in Ireland - Seminar Review

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

This year in May I was on a seminar by Joe Williams. He is a great motivational speaker with a lot of experience in leading meetings, he closely cooperates with Anthony Robbins. There were plenty of people form the entire Ireland - both northern and southern.

Those are the most important notes from the Joe’s talk:

  • Emotion and Energy is something you generate, not something you are waiting for.
  • remind yourself how did you accomplish seemingly impossible goals in the past
  • unconscious mind is 30000 times more powerful than a conscious mind, that means that you can achieve and earn at least 30000 times more using it.
  • everyone has 3 opportunities per month to be a millionaire, but we are filtering it out
  • dream big!
  • create enough strong WHY if you want accomplish something
  • use amplifiers: sound, movement

  • Joe told a funny story about a golden buddha reminding us that we are greater than we look like. The story goes like this:
Long time ago in the wilderness there was a tribe that had a lot of gold, once they decided to make something great of it and they melted it into a buddha sculpture. They were happy and it was a top treasure for the tribe. It happened that a foreign tribe was a real danger for the tribe so they wanted to protect the precious sculpture. It was so heavy that it was unmovable, the best idea was to cover it with mud. The layer of mud around the golden buddha hardened so for the intruders it looked like nothing worth, amateur, stone sculpture. Because of scarcity the secret about true nature of the sculpture was kept for years and never publicly revealed, it was too risky. From generation to generation fewer and fewer people knew about it until the last old man died and the secret with him. The times were safe now but no one even expected that they had an enormous treasure in the middle of their village. People had nothing special to appreciate and were disappointed that their ancestors had build such a primitive sculpture. On one sunny day a young boy went playing football and a ball stroked the sculpture leaving a crack on it. The boy was amazed with the shine coming from within it, he alarmed the villagers and all together crushed the entire hardened layer. From that day the magnificent golden treasure was warming their hearts, they knew that they are rich and always were.
This story tells that we as people are an enormous treasure but we had forgotten our true nature because of the scarcity. Even if it is safe today to get rid of the cover that keeps us unworthy we still haven’t saw our true internal light.

That was a fantastic, inspiring event and Joe Williams showed a lot of charisma, expertise and enthusiasm. Thanks Joe.
