Have The Best Day Ever !
“Have the best day ever !” – that’s how my new friend ended his email to me. When I read it early this morning my reaction was: “What? How would I do that, it is not definitely going be today or near it. Oh God does he have to exaggerate in that way, is he way to optimistic or is it just some affirmative habit?”. Now it is a late evening and I have to say that it wasn’t any better than an average day, yes it wasn’t, some of you expected that a miracle took place or what
? However something important has happened. I started questioning: how would this day have to look like to be my very best day? My first specific question was “how would I be sitting?”, I became aware of my slouched posture and immediately corrected it. Now question for you dear reader: Are you sitting right now as if it was your very best day ever? Please correct it. I assume that when you are reading this you are not swimming, flying of standing on hands but in any case make your posture feel terrific. My second specific question was “What would my level of energy have to be like? What it is right now?”, then I became forecasting it and it wasn’t anything that I wanted, I slept a bit longer than usually today morning and I wasn’t in an excitement mode. I remember days while I was experimenting with early rising and it was much better back then, I think it has something to do with pride and satisfaction. My next question was “Would I worry or pay attention to the thoughts that I usually have at this time of day?”. Absolutely not, it is closer to the opposite of what I stand for. I continued with such questions throughout the day and what’s most important in this post is this: I realized that I do not live my life day to day expecting it to be something wonderful. This attitude is normal nearly for everyone, nearly 365 day a year. There is a hidden false assumption that something important has to happen or there is a perfect environment setting required to make us live as if it was a life that we dream of. A book “Happy For No Reason” by Marci Shimoff comes to mind. Final questions to you are: How would your best day ever look like? What determines it? Does it depend on great achievements, joyful pleasures and unearthly settings? How would you respond if something bad appeared on your way while you were in a fantasitcally blissful, powerful and all knowing mode? Please do experiment with bending reality and of course “Have the best day ever !”.
