The Power of Decision (about Steve Pavlina)
This inspiring story is about the power of decision and consequences of it. It is based on the life of one of my gurus. His name is Steve Pavlina. I will tell his personal story, and explain the power of decision he made during the toughest moments. Today he inspires millions of people all over the world thru his personal development website.
When he grew up he was quite smart but later he went into trouble. He was undisciplined, and emotionally unstable, he was addicted to shoplifting. He was caught for a grand theft felony and sat in a jail knowing that he will spend two years in there. He was thrown out from college. It was January 1991 and he was 19 years old. Even thou his situation was bad and he lacked strength to change that life, it was beyond abilities at that time, he decided to take responsibility for his life and made a decision to grow thinking that maybe one day he will be able to lift that weight and become a strong person. He made a decision to grow from the point where he was. Luckily because of an unknown mistake in the justice system all his previous arrests were not listed during the case, he was punished with only another 3 day arrest. I think the angels were there at work because such things don’t happen very often.
He moved to another city, change environment, friends, become vegetarian and eventually vegan, after a year went back to college and finished it in a half time than was expected, moreover he did two degrees during that time! (triple than normal course load)
He exercised on a regular basis and even run a marathon.
He was deeply involved into personal development, after several years he quit his own computer programming company and started personal development website. That was another crucial decision. It was a giant step in his life. Despite that there was no evidence of success at that time, he decided that it will eventually reach millions of people on regular basis. After few years it became true. On his website Steve is posting inspiring articles every few days. He is writing about: personal development, spirituality, awareness, courage, the life purpose, health, wealth, success, finding the most fulfilling occupation. He took experiments like polyphasic sleep, raw veganism.
It’s funny but praise/reward should be given at the moment of decision. It took him about 15 years to become the person that he wanted to be. A person with strong personality, discipline, responsibility and sense of honor, organized, energetic. Moreover he inspires others to grow.
Because of him I switched to vegan and become an early riser, now I even bend strongly toward raw vegan diet. I’ve joined Toastmasters. Maybe the most important change was that I put much more attention to the spiritual world, my personal development got richer spiritual dimension. Consequences of that are that I am attending psychic workshops, I’ve became a Reiki healer, I do Tai Chi.
Let’s conclude:
Steve Pavlina made two crucial decisions: One was to grow, The second was to inspire millions of people on a regular basis. He fulfilled both of them, and the consequence of that is the net effect. People who read his articles are changing their lives inspiring others to grow.
