What is Reiki?
Reiki is a very easy to learn, natural, powerful, hands-on art of healing. It is fantastic and calming. It is something I definitely recommend, I really enjoy giving and receiving, and it looks like it will be part of my future. Reiki is a Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy (Rei means Universal , Ki means Energy). We all have Reiki energy. Everyone can learn Reiki. It’s like giving blessings. Reiki is not attached to any particular Beliefs. It originated about 5 thousands years ago in the area of Tibet and China and was forgotten. However Japanese Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered it a 100 years ago.

Principles of Reiki are:
Just for today, do not anger
Just for today, do not worry
Be grateful
Do your work honestly
Be kind to every living thing

Simple, yes? But what amazing benefits it has. Below is a list of them.

Benefits of Reiki:

  • calms the mind
  • heals body and emotions
  • improves ability to heal body by itself
  • gives nice vitalizing sensation
  • improves your ability to visualize
  • gives you extra energy
  • gives happiness to the World
  • improves your self-confidence
  • gives you a better sleep
  • increases creativity and personal growth
  • promotes a positive outlook in life
  • Reiki is safe and it always adjusts to the needs of the receiver. Now when you know the benefits it is the time to describe how a Reiki session look like.

    Reiki session
The session occurs in a quiet, and comfortable room. The client remains fully clothed, covered by a blanket if required, and lies on a special table.  The session takes about 45 minutes, sometimes one hour it involves laying on hands at various points over the client’s body. It could be even completely hands over the body if clients wishes so, benefits will stay the same. Practitioner takes a moment to prepare, and usually starts with the head, going down thru the energy points or areas which need healing. It takes about 5min to heal and energize each point. It is very peaceful, simple and gentle method. You will begin to feel very relaxed, breathing slows down and deepens and body’s muscles will  let go of tension. You may even fall asleep. Immediately after the session you may feel so relaxed that you don’t want to move, :) it’s like waking up from a very deep and relaxing sleep. Remember to drink some water before and a plenty afterwards to purify the system from the released stuff. Water is highly recommended.

When giving a Reiki treatment, the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner, he or she visualizes a white beam of light shining above at the top of the head, going thru forehead, throat and heart, and then from the heart thru hands flowing into the client. Because of this, the practitioner also receives a treatment. You can practice on water, plants, animals or even on food. I gave Reiki to my motorbike and laptop :) lol. Everything in the Universe is composed of Energy, including you and me. Even our thoughts are Energy. Everything in the Universe is connected so by healing someone or something else we heal ourselves.

    Let’s conclude:
You’ve just read what Reiki is, what benefits it has and you know how the session look like. Reiki is pure, peaceful and simple form of healing by hands. It is very beneficial. Reiki session is just… Blissful! Each Reiki session is unique and a person will receive the healing that they need on that particular occasion. If you are a healer and If you are sending blessings and give that kind of attention to receivers, you are not only helping them but certainly yourself and the whole environment around. If you want to be a healer there are many workshops, and if you just want to experience Reiki as a receiver then you can find it in any holistic center or just make a Google search on your area. Currently there are over 2 millions of Reiki practitioners in the world.
